Club history and information

"Amager Dykkerklub" (Amager [Scuba] Diving Club) was founded in 1980 with main focus on scuba diving. But in the beginning of the eighties the members of the club began practising underwaterrugby. Over time underwaterrugby became the main activity, and meanwhile this trend spread out through northern Europe.
Today there's no longer any scuba diving activity in the club and thus the club has changed name to "Amager Undervandsrugbyklub" (Amager Underwaterrugby Club).

Throughout the period 2000 to 2006 most of the founding members and 'oldschool' members quit practising the sport and a lot of younger and newer players joined. Today Amager Undervandsrugbyklub has two active teams both playing in the Danish league.

There are 41 members in Amager Undervandsrugbyklub today, of which about 10 are inactive for any number of reasons. This doesn't mean that there are 31 players at every practice, but we strive to rally around 20 players at each practice.

Each season we have a number of social activities in the form of parties and dinners. Typically, there's a party around Christmas, one around Easter and one just before summerbreak!
